* Essex Steam Train & Riverboat Ride, Essex
The round-trip train ride leaves from the depot just north of Essex and takes you along the scenic Connecticut River to Chester. This is the most beautiful New England village there is, and you can sea it's harbor from our cottage. There a lots of festivals and activities on the green (art, handicrafts, antiques, music, carnivals, and more), and many of the historic colonial homes are restored museums, including the Henry Whitfield State Museum and the Thomas Griswold House.
